Rural, community and Critical Access Hospitals have the same mandate as the largest integrated systems; to deliver high quality patient care, but with only a fraction of the resources.
The technology mandate offers added restraints. First many affordable options lack desireable features and benefits, particularly as they relate to ancellary components.
In addition, the requirement for maintenance and support poses further challenges. Smaller organziations can't justify the full-time technical resources required to manage and maintain these complex IT systems. Yet their requirement for high system availability and rapid issue responsiveness is just as great as the largest hospital organization. |
