Technology Solutions for Rural, Community and Critical Access Hospitals

Supporting Your Initiatives

Intersect offers a wide range of services to support your organization and assure that you achieve the highest possible level of performance from your technology investment. We understand the important role our solutions play in helping you fulfill your mission. We also realize you must deliver the highest possible level of health care and meet similar mandates with far less resources than larger hospital organizations. With this knowledge and on the foundation of our rural roots, we built our business to meet your needs. We are deeply committed to serve as your trusted advisor…adding value while earning your trust.

The Technology Mandate - Opportunity and Challange

The HITECH Act creates the opportunity for rural and community hospitals to secure their future and increase the quality of patient care. ObamaSigningFederal government stimulus money can be used to offset the costs of upgrading to electronic health records and their many associated benefits. Ultimately, the final goal is to improve the quality of patient care and reduce the cost of delivering those services. Patient care improvements include the ability to develop best-practices treatment plans, reduce the chance for medical errors and increased information sharing among providers and other care-givers. Financial performance enhancements result from increased operational efficiencies, shortened revenue cycles and better management practices, identifiable by key performance indicators.

Unfortunately, most rural and community hospitals lack the internal resources to deal with all of the issues that accompany this transition. Intersect has services designed to mitigate the risks and sieze the opportunities.

Change Management and Organizational Consulting

The success of your system deployment most likely won't be determined by the technology, but rather by how well it is accepted and utilized by your organizational members. Intersect is highly qualified to assist you in facilitating this important step.

Stimulus and Grant Funding Assistance

Intersect can assist your organization in qualifying for available funding from the Stimulus and Grants. In this task, we will either work with your staff or your extenal auditors to assure that you recieve the maximum reimbursement possible.

Financial Services

Funding requirements occur prior to the receipt of stimulus money. Few organizations have the surplus cash available to meet this need. Intersect can arrange terms for qualified applicants to bridge this shortfall.

Operational Consulting

Intersect will assist you in refining operational processes, more efficiently managing procurements, and establishing administrative policy. We will also "shadow" your nursing staff for aperiod of time to assure that we deliver an EHR configuration that meets workflow requirements. Not only will this observation positively influence operational efficiency, but involvement from the nursing staff in this step is a key element in securing their support later during the installation, training and attainment of "Meaningful Use."

Intersect will consult with your nursing staff to develop Care Plans and Order Sets based on your organization's requirements.

Staff Training and Support

For your organization to meet operational goals and achieve high patient satisfaction, they must be confident and efficient in using the EHR and healthcaremanagement system.Intersect provides the needed training to achieve that objective. We will evaluate the individual needs of your users and design a training program tomatch. We will create on on-site classroom environment and staff it with qualified instructors. Provider training will be scheduled during the day and during their "off hours."

Intersect will support your system "go live" with on additional on-premise training to assure that you get up to speed fast and without glitches.

Meaningful Use Auditing

Approximately 30 days after the initial "go live" date, Intersect will conduct a Meaningful Use audit, identifying areas in compliance as well as those where the requirements are not being met. Intersect will either initiate training around criteria where deficiencies exist or take other steps as required to gain compliance.Following another 30 day data collection period, Intersect will conduct a second audit to determine compliance with all required criteria.

System Maintenance and Support

Rural and community hospitals rarely ever have IT resources qualified to maintain and support a complex IT system such as is the case with the EHR and its associated resources. Intersect fulfills this requirement by remotely monitoring and managing the entire system. We monitor its health and resolve issues, often proactively, 24X7X365. IBM technicians respond to on-site hardware requirements within hours. In the meantime, the redundant system design keeps the sytem available.

Disaster Recovery Preparedness

Although system backups are created regularly and are managed and monitored by Intersect's support team, an image of the entire system is required to be maintained "off site" so that in the event of a disaster, it can be rebuilt without loss of data. Intersect provides this service using the Internet to eliminate any local requirements.
